NetID is a username/password combination used by IT departments at UNM to provide secure access to network computer systems and services. ITS (Information Technology Services) has a detailed description of the UNM NetID here .
These are two different IDs. Your HSC NetID username is the same as the account name used in the @salud.unm.edu email address. Your UNM NetID is the same as the account name used in the @unm.edu address. You can also check your IDs in either of these online directories.
Search on your last name or other unique information available in the search form.
Click Account Request Form, and fill out this form completely to have an account created. You will be notified by our account manager when the account is ready to use.
HSC - Click here, accept any security certificate that may present itself, log in with you current password, then click the "Change Password (universal)" link.
UNM - click here and follow the instructions on the page.
GroupWise has a security feature which allows you to use a password that is different from the HSC NetID password. If you use this feature, you will need to think of your HSC NetID password as your 'Novell' password. Also - if at some point you change your Novell (HSC NetID) password, please note that doing so will not change your GroupWise specific password.
For some users the UNM NetID and the HSC NetID cannot be the same for the following reasons:
1) The UNM NetID cannot be longer than 8 characters and can only use letters and numbers. If the HSC NetID has more than 8 characters or uses a symbol like a hyphen, then we have to create a slightly different UNM NetID.
2) As with the HSC NetID system, the UNM system requires all IDs to be unique. Occasionally the UNM NetID we request is already in use. In this case we will create a slightly different ID which resembles the HSC NetID.
Many students, staff, and faculty members are concerned with the status of their HSC NetId's when they leave UNM. First and foremost, unless you are a retired faculty member or Professor Emeritus you are no longer entitled to any North Campus computer accounts, to include e-mail, after your last active day with the UNM.NetIDs are active until users leave the institution.
The systems using NetIDs have different requirements and are run by different units. The two ID systems are synchronized around a common encrypted identifier so at some point in the future the same password could be used by both IDs and more systems will be able to use both IDs.
To change your HSC NetID information you can go eGuide and login to update your info at the top of the page. You will then login with your groupwise account and password. You can then click on Edit Information at the top of the page. This will allow you to change all of your information except for your title and department. If you need to change your title or department you can call the helpdesk at 272-1694 or you can create a Heat Self Service Ticket at HSS by logging on with your HSC NetID and password. To change your UNM NetID information you go to the UNM Demographic Self Service and login with your UNM NetID and password then click on the various tabs to change your information.
When you are scheduled for training you will be directed to this page for your Oracle/Banner ID.
