Windows Vista Deployment Plan


Windows Vista will be made available at the HSC beginning November 1, 2007. Departmental technical staff can install the software for their departments. The helpdesk can take individual requests for departments without technical staff.

New computers or those that are to be re-imaged after November 1, 2007 will have Windows Vista unless the hardware will not support Vista. Office 2007 will be installed as part of the image. We will no longer install Windows XP with the one exception that the hardware will not support Windows Vista, and that hardware will now receive reduced support which will involve turn-around times of up to two weeks.

Machines imaged with Windows Vista will only have Office 2007. We will not install any earlier versions of the office products.

All of our computer images will be contain Vista and Office 2007. Any Windows XP images we retain will also have Office 2007.
