There are three main committees that work with KMIT initiatives. Each are described in detail below.
KMIT Advisory Council
A faculty liaison council was commissioned by the Vice President for Health Sciences in 2000 to support two-way dialogue among faculty and HSC leadership concerning information / telecommunication technologies and knowledge management resources needed to support education, research, patient care, and administration. This council, comprised of faculty and staff, enhances communication among staff and faculty in the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, and College of Pharmacy and directly advises the KMIT leadership.
This council's charge is to assist in identifying and predicting faculty needs for information/ telecommunication technologies and knowledge management resources supporting HSC Strategic Planning Goals in education, research, clinical care and administration. Technologies and resources include those needed to support the curriculum, distance learning, continuing education, patient care and telehealth, research processes, outreach, training and professional development, simulation, administrative services, workstation and network support, application support, web-based technologies for internet/intranet development, public access computing, classrooms, and audio/visual production.
The Operations Council consists of representatives from HSLIC's TECHS Department, University Hospitals' IT Department, and several administrative areas throughout the HSC. Its purpose is to ensure communications and consistent planning and policy development throughout the IT community on campus.
The IS Directors include representatives from various departmental level IT shops across the HSC. This group meets quarterly.
