TECHS User Support Services

What are NetId's

NetIDs, or “Network IDs,” allow users to access particular resources on campus. Users need two NetIDs:

  • The first is the HSC NetID—also called a Novell Account—which allows users to login to the HSC shared networked system and other HSC-based applications.

  • HSC network file sharing
  • GroupWise e-mail
  • Deksptop PCs (employees only)
  • HSC specific web applications
  • Remote Access to HSC restricted library services

  • Many students, staff, and faculty members are concerned with the status of their HSC NetId's when they leave UNM. First and foremost, unless you are a retired faculty member or Professor Emeritus you are no longer entitled to any North Campus computer accounts, to include e-mail, after your last active day with the UNM.NetIDs are active until users leave the institution.

  • The second is the UNM NetID This is most commonly used for main campus resources and for the learning management system Learning Central to track all of required employee training.
  • UNM e-mail
  • UNM ERP Applications
  • UNM's eLibrary
  • WebCT
  • UNM Parking Services
  • UNM Portal/Web Applications

  • NetIDs are created for faculty and staff only at the request of their respective departments. Departments can access the online request form at Account Request Form

To see if a NetID has been created, go to eGuide and search by user last name. If the user last name does not appear, the NetID has not been created. Once the HSC NetID has been created users may change their default password at mypw.health.unm.edu.

The UNM NetID can be changed at UNM NetID Password Reset.
