The
Division of Adolescent Medicine offers an adolescent clinic
providing general medical care to teenagers and serves as a
referral clinic for specialized problems. All issues in
adolescent healthcare are addressed, from acne to birth control
and from family counseling to sports physicals. In
addition, an adolescent consultation service has been
established to provide consultation on hospitalized adolescent
patients or outpatients referred by private physicians, schools
or agencies. Adolescent gynecology patients are welcome
since the division has special interest and expertise in this
area. Telephone consultations and inquiries from private
physicians, schools or agency personnel are encouraged.
Patients do not need to be referred. An adolescent lecture
series is available with such topics as television and
teenagers, contraception for teenagers, acne, common medical
problems in adolescents, adolescent psychology, sports medicine,
adolescent gynecology, drug use and abuse adolescent medicine
and school-based healthcare.
