
Program Objectives
Upon completion of the residency program in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy the resident shall be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge in the area of clinical therapeutics in the adult cardiology patient care setting.
Demonstrate competence in the evaluation, critical selection and utilization of the cardiovascular literature.
Demonstrate verbal communication skills that permit effective dissemination of cardiovascular drug information to other health care professionals via in-services and formal lectures.
Demonstrate written communication skills that permit dissemination of cardiovascular drug information via peer-reviewed publications.
Contribute directly and indirectly to patient care via the monitoring of patients under the care of the inpatient adult cardiology service.
Demonstrate competence in the provision of direct patient care through several outpatient cardiology clinics.
Qualifications of Residency Applicants
The applicant must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy and must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of New Mexico. The completion of a pharmacy practice residency program is preferred. Selected applicants will be required to visit the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center for an on-site interview.
Resident Stipend
Approximately $35,000 annually plus benefits*.
*Benefits include annual leave, sick leave and insurance.
Vacation/Holidays
Five working days in addition to the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and Memorial Day.
Professional Leave
Resident will be allowed to attend a professional meeting paid by the College of Pharmacy.
Health Insurance
Health insurance is provided.

July 1, 2008 thru June 30, 2009.
