Dr. Felton holds a B.S. in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmaceutics from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been with the College since 1997, first as an Assistant Professor and now as an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics.

Dr. Felton’s current research interests include polymeric film coating technology, modified release systems, and transdermal penetration of chemicals through the skin. Ongoing studies are focused on the physical, mechanical, adhesive, and drug release properties of enteric and sustained-release polymers applied to solid surfaces. Other research studies are addressing the affects of cyclodextrin complexation on the dermal penetration and skin accumulation of UV absorbing compounds and other agents thought to have photoprotective effects. In addition, Dr. Felton is currently involved in the formulation development and GMP manufacturing of solid dosage forms for use in clinical trials.

Dr. Felton is an editorial board member of the Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy Journal, co-editor of the 3rd edition of "Aqueous Polymeric Coatings for Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms" text, and theManufacturing Section Editor of the 21st edition of “Remington: The Science and Practice of Pharmacy” text. She also serves as a peer reviewer for European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, Journal of Controlled Release, and Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is a current member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Controlled Release Society, and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
