Sarah Kwasigroch Receives Leslie Self Inspirational Award more
Sarah Kwasigroch, COP class of 2011 is the recipient of the UNM Leslie Self Inspirational Award for 2008-2009. Started in 1997-98, this is the 12th year the Tow Diehm and Leslie Self Inspirational Awards have been presented to UNM male and female student-athletes based on leadership, character, determination and commitment to their team. Sarah was recognized on January 27 before the men’s basketball game against BYU by Randy Self, Leslie’s husband and former President of the Lobo Club and owner of Spectator’s Sports Bar and Grille. Leslie Self passed away in 1998 after a long battle with cancer.
Sarah has a passion for the Fight for a Cure for Breast Cancer, since her mother is a cancer survivor. In 2008, Sarah helped raise $3,200 for the Think Pink event that she coordinated with the American Cancer Society.
Sarah was a four-year letter-winner for the UNM volleyball team from 2005-08. She finished No. 7 at UNM in career assists with 2,634. She was also a 4-time Academic All-Mountain West Conference and a 3-time MWC Scholar-Athlete. She was the 2008 Lobo Volleyball Cherry-Silver Award winner and the Lobo Club Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2009.
