College of Pharmacy Successfully Completes Accreditation Process, Receives Continued Status until 2016
Accreditation of the professional Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy has been continued until June 30, 2016, the customary six-year cycle, according to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Board of Directors. The decision of the Board was based upon an on-site evaluation conducted October 27, 2009, the College's self-study, and other communications received from the institution. more
The professional program of the College and its accreditation status will be designated on ACPE's website, www.acpe-accredit.org and notice of the accreditation status will appear in the ACPE Report of the Proceedings, to be distributed February 2010.
"We are extremely pleased with the results of the ACPE's review of our program," said Dean John A. Pieper, PharmD, "The self-study and site visit was a true team effort involving many hours of work and consultation by faculty, staff and students."
Dr. Pieper also commended Assistant Dean for Assessment, Stefani Hines, MS, who directed and coordinated the Self Study and ACPE site visit and Dr. William Troutman who chaired the Self-Study Committee.
"The accreditation process allows us the opportunity to critically examine our program in our efforts to provide an education of the highest caliber to the next generation of pharmacists," Pieper said. "Our successful results directly correlate to the dedication of the exemplary faculty members who make up the UNM College of Pharmacy."
