Dave Pentecost is a video producer and editor who spent 20 years at the
television networks. He was a longtime editor for the McNeil-Lehrer News Hour
at PBS and has edited programs for Frontline and P.O.V. He went on to work for
CBS, ABC, NBC, and National Geographic. He was senior editor for 190 programs
and live broadcasts at Discovery News. At Biography and A&E, he edited profiles
of Shirley Temple, Aristotle Onassis, Jimmy Hoffa, J. Edgar Hoover, Groucho
Marx, Brigitte Bardot, Jimmy Carter, Charles Manson, Fidel Castro, David
Brinkley, and Eva Peron.
Along the way, programs Dave edited have won two National
News Emmy Awards as well as a Peabody Award for his work on Roger Rosenblatt's
essays on PBS.
With his longstanding interest in the Maya, he has produced
specials for National Geographic and he hosts a Weblog, The Daily Glyph (GoMaya.com).
He also produced a virtual exhibit in four languages for the Smithsonian
Institution, "Unmasking the Maya."
In recent years Dave oversaw the transfer of digital assets
and document management for the Travel Channel and helped build a Media Asset
Management System for Televisa's 60,000 hours of TV and web media.
He is assisting the Lower Eastside Girls Club of New York
with digital photography, video weblogs, podcasts, and other internet and
broadcasting projects.
A composer and musician, he has written and performed scores
for Discovery News, Biography, and World of Audubon. He has edited music
programs that featured Phillip Glass, Daryl Hall, and Pavarotti.
Dave attended Princeton University in the late 60s and
graduated from State University of New York with a B.S. in Communications in
1979.
He is joining the team at the Community Environmental Health
Program that is planning to produce videos on safe water practices for the
Navajo.
