Application Procedures for U.S. Residents

Fall Semester Admission Deadline is March 1st. (this date is firm, no exceptions, and is the date by which the program must have the applicant's completed file)

1. Submit an application packet to the UNM Graduate Admissions Department, which shall contain the following items:

2. Submit the following directly to the Pharmacy Program Office

  • Supplemental application for Pharmacy (to be printed and mailed to the following:  College of Pharmacy/ Graduate Program Advisor; MSC09 5360; 1 University of New Mexico; Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001)

  • The Letter of Intent is perhaps the most important part of the applicant’s dossier for admission to our program. Your letter should include the following:

  • Summary of the applicant’s academic background and professional work experience

  • Indication of how this training or other relevant experiences have led to the applicant’s decision to apply to the M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program

  • Description of any specific interests within this graduate program

  • Description of long-term goals and how they relate to obtaining this degree

  • Current resume providing a summary of the applicant’s experience.

  • Three letters of recommendation on UNM forms from persons familiar with your academic ability and potential for graduate-level work. Be sure to complete the top section before distributing the form.

  • Official results from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) taken within the previous five years.

  • Original, official, sealed transcript from each school attended

3. Admissions criteria include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 GPA, positive letters of recommendation, and a minimum of 1000 (verbal and quantitative combined) on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

  • Biological Science 2 semesters

  • General Chemistry 2 semesters

  • Organic Chemistry 2 semesters

  • Physics 2 semesters

  • Calculus 1 semester

  • Biochemistry 1 semester
