TOXICOLOGY & PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES GRADUATE RESEARCH

Curriculum

All MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate students conducting Toxicology research take two semesters of Core Courses along with all other students entering the UNM Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program (BSGP).  This allows MS students in Pharmaceutical Sciences the option to apply to transfer to the PhD program in Biomedical Health Sciences after their first year.  After completion of the first year of courses, students take Advanced Pharmacology (Pharm 576) and General Toxicology (Pharm 581) followed by additional advanced toxicology coursework and electives appropriate to their individual Plan of Study and research project.  Students also have the option of completing either a Plan I (Thesis) or Plan II (Non Thesis) track.  The Plan II requires conducting a research project and writing a final paper in lieu of conducting a more extensive research project and writing a thesis.  The Plan II option requires a minimum of 4 CR of additional coursework.
