Khalid F. Al Moaikel, MBA
Khalid F. Al Moaikel is a M.S. student in PEPPOR with concentration in Clinical Trials (admitted fall, 2008). Prior to joining UNM, he earned his bachelor degree in pharmacy in 2003 and Master's degree in Business Administration from Saudi Arabia. After his first year at the University of New Mexico, he was accepted into a fellowship in clinical trials at the VA Cooperative Studies Program in Albuquerque, NM. Currently, Khalid is working on his Master’s project which focuses on the use of placebo in cancer clinical trials. His oteh research interests also include the ethics and regulations of clinical trials.
Kathy
D. Boardman, BS, RPh
Kathy is an Assistant Center Director (ACD) for Pharmaceutical
Management and Research (PMR) at the Cooperative Studies Program
Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center. As an ACD, Kathy assumes
a major management role in the Center as a Project Director with the
responsibility for directing the pharmaceutical aspects of multi-center
clinical trials supported by the center. Kathy started with the
Cooperative Studies Program in 1991 as a Pharmaceutical Project Manager,
assisting in the management of the pharmaceutical aspects of
multi-center clinical trials jointly sponsored by the National Institute
on Drug Abuse and the VA Cooperative Studies Program. In 1995 she
assumed the role of Program Manager for the Good Clinical Practices
Monitoring (GCP) Group at the Center. In that capacity she helped manage
the National Institute on Drug Abuse and GCP Monitors working for the
Group. In 1998 Kathy graduated from the University of New Mexico College
of Pharmacy and was hired by the Program in her present position. Kathy
is presently working on her M.S. degree at the University of New Mexico
College of Pharmacy. She is an active member in the American Society of
Health-System Pharmacists, New Mexico Society of Health-System
Pharmacists, and the Drug Information Association.

Yan Cheng, MS
Yan Cheng is pursuing a MS Degree in PEPPOR at the University of New Mexico (admitted fall, 2009). She graduated from the China Pharmaceutical University and received her B.S. in Pharmaceutical Business Management in 2002 and M.S. in Pharmacy Administration in 2005. Prior to joining PEPPOR program, she worked as an instructor at the Soochow University School of Pharmacy, China from 2005 to 2007. Ms. Cheng’s primary research interests include analysis of adverse drug reactions and outcomes research.

Vishvas Garg
Mr. Garg is a Master’s student in pharmacy administration (admitted fall, 2010). He obtained the Bachelor’s of Pharmacy degree from the Maharishi Dayanand University, India, in 2009. He also obtained his Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from the Lynchburg College, VA. Prior to joining the PEPPOR program, Mr. Garg worked as a graduate assistant at the Lynchburg College.
Akshay Kharat
Akshay is currently pursuing his M.S. in PEPPOR (admitted fall, 2009). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Mumbai, India. Akshay’s primary research interest lies in Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.

Melissa Roberts
Ms. Roberts is a doctoral student at the PEPPOR program (admitted
fall, 2010) and a Research Associate with the Center for
Pharmacoeconomic and Outcomes Research (CPOR) at Lovelace Respiratory
Research Institute in Albuquerque, NM. She has been conducting
analytical research for the last ten years. Melissa’s current research
interests are in statistical methods as applied to healthcare
cost-effectiveness and outcomes research with a particular focus on
pharmaceutical treatments and respiratory chronic care conditions.

Xian (Shane) Shen
Ms. Shen is a Master’s student in pharmacy administration (admitted
fall, 2010). Prior to joining the University of New Mexico, Xian
completed her Bachelor’s thesis project, entitled “Analysis of the
Comparative Effectiveness Research in the New Health Reform in the
United States”, at the China Pharmaceutical University. She is a
recipient of the outstanding graduate award at the China Pharmaceutical
University and worked as an intern at the Jiaxing Food and Drug
Administration. Xian’s research interests lay in the area of
pharmacoeconomics and pharmacoepidemiology.
Yuebin Zhao, MS
Yuebin Zhao is a M.S student in the PEPPOR program (admitted fall, 2009). He obtained a Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Economics and a Master’s degree in Chemistry Biology from the Peking University, China. Prior to joining the University of New Mexico, Mr. Zhao actively presented his research at international meetings, including the Asian Biological Inorganic Chemistry Conference (Jeju, Korea, 2008) and Free Radical Biology & Free Radical Medicine Conference (Beijing,China,2008). Currently, his main research interest is in pharmacoeconomics.
