Upendra Abhyankar

Education: Upendra was a Graduate student in the Masters program in Pharmacy Administration at the University of New Mexico. He received his MBA from University of Pune, India. In 2002 and Bachelors in Pharmarcy from University of Pune in 1998.

Masters Thesis Title: "Predicting and Understanding the Intention to Use Herbal Medicines among Older Adults: A Nationwide Survey". 2005. Committee Co-Chair: Gireesh Gupchup, PhD, Matthew E. Borrrego, PhD.

Current Position: Upendra is currently working at Cognizant Technology Solutions, Mumbai as Team Lead-Medical Writing Team in the area of Clinical Data Management.

Robert M. (Bob) Addison, RPh, PhC

Education: Robert is a former Graduate Student. He received his M.S.in Pharmacy Administration from University of New Mexico in 2004. He received his B.S. from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (then, Southwestern State College) in 1973, and his PhC license in 1997.

Masters Thesis Title: "Factors Involved in Determining the Average Cost of Dispensing a Prescription in the State of New Mexico." (2004). Committee Chair: Matthew Borrego, PhD, Gireesh Gupchup, PhD

Current Position: Currently he owns and operates Addison Drug in Fort Sumner, NM. His plans though, are to someday go into Pharmacy Education.

Calvin Julian Cordova

Education: Calvin received both his BS in Pharmacy and his MS in Pharmacy Administration from the University of New Mexico.

Masters Thesis Title: "Managed Care Organization Administrators’ Attitudes Toward Compensation for the Pharmacist Directed Patient Care Services." 2002. Committee Chair: Matthew Borrego, PhD.

Current Position: Calvin is currently a Pharmacy Systems Analyst for the University of New Mexico Hospital. His duties include extraction and analysis of information generated from an integrated network of pharmacy information systems in a major university research and teaching hospital; development and testing of information systems in coordination with the hospital’s Management Information Systems department.

LaDonna M. Salazar-Garcia is a graduate student in the PhD program in Pharmacy Administration at the University of New Mexico. LaDonna is a native New Mexican and was born and raised in Raton, NM. She received her BS in Pharmacy with a minor in Chemistry from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK in 1999. LaDonna has practiced as a pharmacist in various settings including the NM Poison and Drug Information Center and Mayo Clinic Hospital-Phoenix. LaDonna is currently a Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research Fellow at the VA Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center. Rita Jakiche

Education: Rita Jakiche graduated with a masters degree in pharmacy administration from the University of New Mexico in July 2004. She holds a Diploma in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Damascus University College of Pharmacy in Damascus, Syria.

Masters Thesis Title: "The Cost-Effectiveness of Two Strategies for Vaccinating Patients with Hepatitis C Virus Infection Against Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B." 2004 .Committee Chair: Matthew Borrego, PhD

Current Position: She is currently working as a pharmacoeconomics intern at the VA cooperative Studies in NM, performing mainly searches and analyses of databases regarding adverse events of drugs. Her primary research interest focuses on pharmacoeconomic, medical decision analyses, and outcome research.

Niranjan Konduri

Education: Niranjan is a former Masters Student. He received his B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Pune, India (1997).

Masters Thesis Title: "Investigation of the Association of Graduate Student Stress with Health-Related Quality of Life and Perceived Academic Stress among Pharmacy Administration Graduate Students." 2003. Committee co-chairs: Matthew E. Borrego, PhD, Gireesh Gupchup, PhD.

Current Position: Niranjan is currently a Program Associate for Rational Pharmaceutical Management Plus Center for Pharmaceutical Management Sciences for Health in Arlington, Virginia.

Ritesh Kumar, PhD

Education: Ritesh N. Kumar received his degrees in Pharmacy from the University of Mumbai, his Masters Degree in Pharmacy Administration from the University of New Mexico, and his PhD. from the University of Michigan.

Masters Thesis Title: "Clinical and Economic Outcomes Related to a Pharmacist Clinician Managed Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Program for Native American Adults," (2000) Committee Chair: Matthew Borrego, PhD.

Current Position: Ritesh is currently a manager for the Outcomes Research within the Global Human Health Division at Merck & Co., Inc. His responsibilities include providing reimbursement and commercial support to Merck products worldwide. Specifically, his role involves clinical trials and preparing reimbursement dossiers to demonstrate economic and humanistic outcomes data to payers worldwide.

Aditya Marfatia

Aditya received his Masters in Pharmacy Administration from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He received his B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2000) from the University of Bombay. His research interests include pharmacoeconomics and health care technology assessment.

Leslie McCament-Mann, PhD

Education: Leslie McCament-Mann received her PhD from University of New Mexico in 2001.

Doctoral Thesis Title: "Primary Care Physicians' Perceptions of Clinical Practice Guidelines: Not What the Doctor Ordered." 2001. Committee Co-Chairs: Hugh Kabat, PhD, Matthew Borrego, PhD.

Nancy A. Morgan

Education: Nancy is a former doctoral student of University of New Mexico in Pharmacy Administration. She received her M.B.A in Health Organization Management from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX, conferred May 1988 and B.S. in Pharmacy from Creighton University, Omaha, NE

Current Position: Nancy currently is an Investigational Drug Coordinator at the University Hospital, University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Albuquerque, NM. Her principal responsibilities involve inventory management and dispensing of research drugs, complete record keeping and archiving of records of receipt, dispensing and disposition, verifying regulatory approvals before study start-up, ensuring proper storage, packaging and labeling of investigational drugs, informing staff members regarding pharmacy aspects of study participation, and randomizing patients and protecting the integrity of masking/blinding in blinded studies. (August 1999 - present)

Shalaka Netravali

Education: Shalaka received her M.S. in Pharmacy Administration from the University of New New Mexico College of Pharmacy. She received her B.S. in pharmacy from the MET Institute of Pharmacy, in India.

Masters Thesis Title: "Health Related Quality of Life and Health Care Services Utilization among Pediatric Asthma Patients." 2002 Committee Chair: Gireesh Gupchup, PhD.

Mike Sather, PhD

Education: Mike received his B.S. in Pharmacy and his M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy/Pharmacology from the North Dakota State University College of Pharmacy, and his PhD. from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy.

Doctoral Dissertation Title: "Patient Beliefs About Participating in Experimental Research." 2001. Committee Co-chairs: Gireesh Gupchup, PhD, Hugh Kabat, PhD.

Current Position: Mike is currently employed by the VA Cooperative Studies Program, Clinical Science R & D, Office of Research and Development, Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington DC and Albuquerque, NM. His duties for the VA include directing a center that manages the pharmaceutical and regulatory aspects of numerous national and international multi-center clinical trials in the planning, ongoing, and closeout phases for the VA Cooperative Studies Program. Mike also works for the University of New Mexico, College of Pharmacy as a professor of Pharmacy Practice.

Bijal Shah, PhD

Education: Bijal is a former graduate student in the Ph.D. program in Pharmacy Administration at the University of New Mexico, College of Pharmacy. She received her Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree (B. Pharm) from Mumbai University, India in June 2000.

Doctoral Dissertation Titles: "Stress, Coping and Social Support in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes." 2005. Committee Co-chairs: Gireesh Gupchup, PhD, Matthew Borrego, PhD

Current Position: Bijal is currently an Assistant Professor at the Social and Administrative Sciences College of Pharmacy in Touro University in California.

Puneet K. Singhal

Education: Puneet received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Rajasthan College of Pharmacy in India, M.S. in Pharmacy Administration from the University of New Mexico, and his PhD in Pharmaceutical Health Services Research from the University of Maryland School Of Pharmacy.

Masters Thesis Title: Association of Pharmacists’ Directive Guidance Behaviors, Patient Satisfaction, Patient Compliance, and Health-Related Quality-Of-Life: Development and Test of a Conceptual Model.

Current Position: Puneet is currently a manager for the Outcomes Research for Merck & Co., Inc. in West Point, PA
