• Do not eat from damaged or open containers.
  • Drink bottled water – especially infants, children, and pregnant women –until the utility company says its safe to drink water from the tap (or have well water tested for bacteria, metals, and gasoline/oil by-products). Boiling water or disinfecting with 1/8 teaspoon of bleach to 1 gallon of water will kill bacteria and viruses, but will not get rid of toxins that may be in the water. Boiling can actually concentrate the toxins.
  • Don’t eat fish and sea food from the local area until water and wild-life has been tested and determined to be safe.
