Floods! First my sister’s family got hit in Louisiana. Now my friends here in New Mexico are getting soaked.
Hi. I’m Hillary Smith with some water safety tips for people who’ve been flooded.
If your tap water looks muddy or smells weird, drink bottled water for now. If you’re on a water system, call the number on your bill and notify them. The water supplier is obligated to notify you within 24 hours if the water is unsafe.
If you drink water from a private well, flood waters may have brought bacteria or other contamination into your water. Raw sewage is dangerous to your health, so drink bottled water until you can clean up your well. Boiling water for 5 minutes kills bacteria, but could make other contamination worse. To find out how to clean your well and test your water, call 1-505-827-0006. Again, 1-505 827 0006.
Let’s play it safe this monsoon season!
