Mold and Water

We are especially concerned that people affected by hurricanes and floods protect themselves against toxic molds. Here are some safety tips and practical advice:

Take home message:
 

  • No children in un-repaired and or un-cleaned homes!

  • Leave and get professional help if you have more than 10 square feet of mold in the home

  • Wear protective clothing and a properly fitted, changeable HEPA filter respirator. Minimum respiratory protection is an N-95.

  • Remove and discard wet and damaged materials(furniture, wallboard, wood, etc)

  • Clean using 1 cup of bleach to 9 cups of water. (NEVER mix bleach with ammonia!)

  • Dry out!
