Welcome to the UNM College of Pharmacy. Being a part of the College is something to be proud of!
Since 1945, the UNM College of Pharmacy has offered professional and graduate students a rigorous, broad ranging and innovative education on the campus of the University of New Mexico, a nationally recognized very intensive research institution and Hispanic Serving Institution. The College of Pharmacy is the oldest health professional school at UNM and along wth the College of Nursing, School of Medicine, and University Hospitals, constitutes the UNM Health Sciences Center. Our Doctor of Pharmacy program is ranked 32nd by US News and World Report (2011). Sixty five percent of New Mexico's practicing pharmacists are alumni of the College.
The UNM COP is the birthplace of nuclear pharmacy research and education and is a leader in student centered learning, rural health interprofessional education and environmental toxicology. Our faculty direct the NM Poison and Drug Information Center, NM Center for Isotopes in Medicine, and the UNM Biomedicial Research and Integrative NeuroImaging (BRaIN) Center. We recognize the essential nature of research and scholarship in keeping faculty at the forefront of their fields in educating professional pharmacists, graduate students, post docs, residents, and fellows. In 2010, the College of Pharmacy ranked 34th in National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding and 5th in percentage of faculty funded among 120 colleges of pharmacy in the U.S.
Congratulations on joining an outstanding and prestigious team of 48 faculty members, 61 staff members, 25 graduate students, and 360 Doctor of Pharmacy students (figures are accurate as of May 2011). Each of our employees are dedicated to contributing to the College's mission to develop innovative leaders in pharmaceutical care and research who enhance the quality of life for the people of New Mexico.
