Participant Clinical Interactions

HSC Student learning CPROur mission is to provide a flexible and dynamic infrastructure for human subjects research. The Participant Clinical Interactions (PCI) supports adult inpatient and outpatient and pediatric research activities. We support a wide range of nursing and coordinator services, such as:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Nursing support and vital signs
  • Nutritional support, including meal preparation
  • Interviewing
  • Pharmacokinetic sampling
  • Medication administration
  • Electrocardiograms
  • Laboratory processing of samples
  • Temporary sample storage
  • Emergency equipment & CPR 

The PCI is best known for completing important studies on the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus; recent high profile studies have examined the mechanisms of disordered protein in turnover in dialysis patients.
