Matrix changes in kidney structure during aging
Matrix degradation properties of the Relaxin hormone

Pregnant/Aging Vessels

Examination of renal vessels during pregnancy/aging

Chronically instrumented rat model
Renal changes during mid-gestation include:
40-60% increase in glomerular filtration
40-80% increase in renal blood flow
Decreased renal vascular resistance
With the rat model we are also examining the aging kidney vasculature
