UNM Health Sciences Center research maintains and partners with many centers and institutes, including the new Clinical and Translational Science Center and the UNM Cancer Research & Treatment Center named one of "America's Best Cancer Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report.

  • Biomedical Research and Integrative NeuroImaging Center (BRaIN Imaging) - Specializes on integrative neuroimaging of animal models of various neurological and psychiatric disorders
  • Cancer Research & Treatment Center - a world-renowned leader in cancer research and cancer treatment
  • Center for Community Partnership and Outreach - Aligns and coordinates UNM SOM's institutional resource and assists with Collaborative Research Projects
  • Center for Disaster Medicine - Research includes aspects of emergency care such as disaster medicine, event and mass gathering medicine, special populations disaster medicine, triage protocols, and trauma care.
  • Center for Development and Disability - Applied research of improving systems of care for people with disabilities and their families.
  • Center for Environmental Health Sciences - Conducts basic and translational research that addresses the overall needs of Southwestern communities pertaining to regionally relevant environmental health issues
  • Center for Infectious Disease & Immunity - Develops and enhances collaborative programs among researchers, physicians, and business in New Mexico that address the threat of infectious and immunologically mediated diseases in New Mexican populations and the world.
  • Center for Telehealth and Cybermedicine Research - Telehealth incorporates electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support virtual access by communities to health care services over distance
  • Clinical and Translational Science Center - Integrates and expands the reach of clinical medical research from the laboratory to clinical and medical practice: promoting a bench to bedside to community effort
  • Clinical Trials Center - Clinical research facility dedicated to assisting UNM HSC faculty with industry-sponsored research.  Assists investigators with budget preparation, IRB submission, contract negotiation and performance of clinical research studies.
  • General Clinical Research Center - Provides an optimal setting for medical researchers to conduct safe, controlled, state-of-the-art studies
  • Institute for Ethics - Serves as a resource for ethics in health care and research at the institutional, local, regional, national and international levels
  • Institute for Public Health - Progresses UNM SOM's public health agenda in education and research; Research programs include Emerging Infections Program and Southwest Addictions Research Group
  • Prevention Research Center - Address the health promotion and disease prevention needs of New Mexican communities through participatory, science-based, health promotion and disease prevention research.
  • Sleep Disorders Center - Researches on improved methods of diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders
  • The Mind Research Network - The Mind Research Network is an independent non-profit collaboration dedicated to helping people by improving the diagnosis of mental illness and brain disorders; and finding methods of prevention, better treatments and, ultimately, cures
