RIOS Net: Research Involving Outpatient Settings

Primary Care Network Survey

Our first study, the Primary Care Network Survey (PRINS), is a survey of patient encounters for a total of thirty patient visits during a two-week period of time. The purpose of the project is to understand the types of health problems RIOS Net clinicians see in practice, and how they manage these health problems. Like a satellite photo, it will not only provide us with a different perspective on what RIOS Net practitioners do, but also prompt us to ask more about the problems we are seeing in New Mexico.

The study process involves collecting basic demographic and visit-related information on patient visits including:

Funded by the Agency for Healthcare, Research and Quality, PRINS will help people served by RIOS Net by learning more about the most common health problems seen in New Mexico, and by providing information to help the network and its communities decide what health topics RIOS Net should prioritize.

In addition, members will be able to compare their own aggregated data to those from other practices in the network as well as to practices around the country. Practitioners who are participating will be able to look at their individual data in the early autumn and more generalized results will be posted on our website for the general public.
