Personal statement:

As I began my years in medical school, I was enticed by the notion that I could contribute something good for people, that my care for others would be valued and valuable to me.  Yet, I had no idea how much fun my career and work life would ultimately be!  I truly do not see my job as “work,” for it is an immense source of fun and fulfillment for me.

I trained at the University of New Mexico and have recently rejoined the faculty, having missed the challenge of academia, the diverse population of people we serve at the University of New Mexico, and the wonderful group of individuals who make up the Department of Psychiatry at UNM.   I am so privileged to be a physician in our community, at UNM, and in the Psychiatry Department.

My areas of interest include inpatient psychiatry, co-occurring medical and psychiatric illness, psychopharmacology, evaluating character structure in the clinical setting, professional relationships, and resident and medical student education.
