Mentoring section of search process

 

 

To be filled out for each person who is offered an interview and submitted before person is interviewed.

 

Before interview period:

 

1.     Has the person to be interviewed requested meeting with personnel in specific areas (clinical, education, research areas)?

 

a.      If so, would any of these people be willing to serve as the First-Mentor for this person if they are hired?  (First-Mentor:  A faculty member who agrees to mentor a new faculty member for at least the first six months; need not be in the same department as the new faculty member).

 

b.     If the person to be interviewed has not requested specific interviews, has a needs assessment identified UNM faculty members who could serve as the First-Mentor?

 

 

2.     Will the interviewed person be filling a unique role at UNM which may limit the content mentors available on site?

 

a.      If so, what process will be used to identify internal/external content mentors?

 

 

 

3.     Are there gender/ethnicity considerations, which may be important to the person who is being interviewed, relative to their needs in identifying a mentor?

 

          A question in the interview process requesting identification of particular needs in a mentor may address this issue.
