The HSLIC provides resource materials and services to all component organizations of the Health Sciences Center. The HSLIC, an official Resource Library of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, holds over 59,000 book titles, 2,000 media items, 112,000 bound journal volumes, and currently subscribes to over 1,200 journal titles, of which over 1,000 are available in electronic format. The HSLIC’s advanced informatics systems provide students and faculty with remote access to web-based and other electronic resources that facilitate research, education and patient care. Services are easily accessed by health practitioners and facilities statewide.

Access to the HSLIC’s online bibliographic databases and to full-text versions of selected major medical books and journals is available for remote and on-site use twenty-four hours a day via the HSLIC home page, at http://hsc.unm.edu/library. The HSLIC provides access to MEDLINE and over 70 other databases. The print and electronic books, journals and databases of the Main Campus Libraries are also available for HSLIC users. The HSLIC and the Indian Health Service have developed the Native Health History Database of more than 3,200 health-related monographs and articles dating back to 1652 and particularly emphasizing 19th century citations, as well as the Native Health Research Database of over 4,000 records covering materials from 1970 to the present.
