* Results of the March 2008 Match

The department is pleased to announce that it had an extremely successful 2008 match with the addition of eight wonderful candidates to the residency. The results of the match can be found on the resident page.


* New additions to the department

The department is also pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dan Rogers to the pediatric anesthesia fellowship program, and Dr. Casey Dellabarca and Dr. James Choo to the pain fellowship program beginning in July 2008.

Finally, the department is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Hillary Ford and Dr. Michael Crabtree to the faculty this summer.



UNM HospitalThe Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine offers a four-year anesthesiology training program which includes an internship and three years of clinical anesthesiology. In addition, fellowships in pain management and pediatric anesthesiology are offered. The anesthesiology residency program was established in 1988. The Department currently has 25 house staff and 30 full-time faculty. The faculty have trained at some of the finest institutions in this country and abroad. The Department is fully represented in all subspecialties of anesthesiology. Residents train at several sites: University Hospital, Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Services, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Lovelace Hospital. Research is a departmental priority and residents are encouraged to participate in laboratory or clinical research with faculty. Graduates of the program will be fully prepared to enter a variety of careers including general anesthesiology practice, further training in a subspecialty, and academic medicine.
