UNM Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the UNM School of Medicine and is the home of the highly regarded UNM Children's Hospital. It provides New Mexicans with a wide range of specialty and subspecialty care, with many of those specialties not available anywhere else in the state.
The hospital also operates New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center and treats more than 1,300 critically injured patients a year. New Mexicans are fortunate to have such an integrated medical center in Albuquerque where UNMH is located.

Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Services (OSIS): Ambulatory surgeries are performed at this state of the art free standing surgical center located on University Blvd. Many patients may receive regional anesthesia as their primary anesthetic or for postoperative pain control.

The department’s chronic pain clinic is located at the OSIS Facility. Dr. Robert Zuniga is the medical director of the clinic. He has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of pain conditions. In particular, he has excelled at many invasive procedures such as regional anesthesia techniques, dorsal column stimulators, intrathecal medication pumps, and kyphoplasties. Patients are seen by appointment only. For appointments, please call 505-925-4994.

This beautiful, newly completed facility houses the hospital’s state-of-the-art pediatric operating rooms and labor & delivery suite. It is also home to expanded and improved world-class medical, trauma-surgical, neurosurgical, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care units. Finally, New Mexico’s only Level I trauma emergency room has been expanded and upgraded by the new facility.

The New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System (NMVAHCS) strives to provide the highest quality primary, secondary, and tertiary health care to its beneficiaries through a compassionate, innovative health care system, excellent training and education of health care professionals, and effective use of available resources. The Albuquerque Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center is a Level 1 tertiary referral center located in the heart of the Land of Enchantment. The medical center is authorized to operate 217 beds, which include a 26-bed spinal cord injury center (SCI), and a 36-bed Nursing Home Care Unit. The New Mexico VA Health Care System has a major affiliation with the University of New Mexico School of Medicine (UNMSOM) with 115 resident FTE currently rotating through 35 clinical residency-training programs. UNM is New Mexico's only medical school and the Albuquerque VAMC is the only VA hospital. Together they serve as invaluable resources for the state.
