Intensive Biochemistry
This course is the first semester of a two
semester intensive biochemistry course of study. The first semester
provides an
introduction into the physical and chemical properties of carbohydrate,
lipid, proteins and nucleic acids. The course also addresses enzyme
mechanisms; enzymic catalysis; the chemistry of information transfer and the structure,
synthesis, and processing of nucleic acids and proteins.Prerequisites:
Organic chemistry (302 or 308). Students who have not
successfully completed a one year course in organic chemistry may not
register for this course.
