NF-kB
Nuclear Factor-kappaB (NF-kB) proteins comprise a family of structurally-related eukaryotic transcription factors that participate in the regulation of a large number of normal cellular processes, such as immune and inflammatory responses, developmental processes, cellular growth, and apoptosis. In addition, these transcription factors are also found to be constitutively active in a number of disease states which often lead to significant pathologic consequences. Our NF-kB interest group is made up of multidisciplinary scientists from the Health Sciences Center that share a common goal of understanding the contributions of the NF-kB signaling pathway to a variety of human diseases and in the development of novel inhibitors that will be useful for future clinical trials.
