Post Doc Position Available

Postdoctoral Position at the University of New Mexico is Available to
Study Functions and Regulation of Yeast V-ATPase Pumps.

A postdoctoral position is immediately available to study regulatory and cellular functions of vacuolar ATPase pumps. Applicants would have a PhD in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with a record of peer-reviewed publications. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with demonstrated ability to carry out independent research using yeast. The candidate will combine genetics and biochemical approaches to address the molecular mechanisms and signals involved in the regulation of V-ATPase complexes. A strong background in yeast genetics, cell biology, and experience with protein biochemistry is desirable. The candidate will be expected to participate in and contribute to a highly interactive research environment involving students and should be willing and able to apply for individual post-doctoral fellowships. Mission of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology The mission of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is to be a center of academic excellence that creates and imparts knowledge of the biochemical and molecular bases of disease through individual and collaborative multidisciplinary research; undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and medical education; and the training of basic and clinical research scientists. Our Department has been providing quality educational and research opportunities for graduate, undergraduate and medical students for over 30 years. Our faculty conduct research in the areas of gender specific cancers, obesity and diabetes, signal transduction, education techniques, nutrition, and bioinformatics. The Department delivers lecture and laboratory courses for undergraduates and graduates as well as numerous research opportunities for visiting scholars and summer students. 02/18/08
