Hari - Traditional Japanese Acupuncture

Originating from the same ancient sources as Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Hari took on its own distinct form in the past century, through the works and research of a group of senior Japanese acupuncturists, who set out to systematically restore and revive some of the subtle energetic aspects of acupuncture, which they believed were being lost. Hari style acupuncture is thus characterized by being remarkably gentle and painless (most needling is actually non-insertive), yet potent in the way it manipulates energy in the body to achieve fast and profound results towards treatment of disease and promotion of health and wellbeing. It utilizes a distinct set of solid silver tools and needles in addition to magnets, very fine stainless steel needles, moxabustion (warming of acupuncture points with a wool made from Mugwort herb), and cupping (suction of skin using glass cups with vacuum handles). The practice of Hari relies strongly on the fine reading of the patient's pulses and palpation of the abdomen to determine the relative strength and quality of Qi (energy) in the 20 energy meridians and other areas of the body. The needling requires concentration and steadiness of mind by the practitioner in order to directly perceive and respond to the activity of Qi at the acupuncture point. Hari style acupuncture is especially suitable for children and adults who are needle sensitive, or have decreased pain thresholds due to their medical condition.
