Conference Description

Textbook Conference: Weekly review and discussion of assigned dermatologic textbook reading with faculty member.

Dermatopathology Conference: Weekly conference which includes prior individual slide review and review of them with a dermatopathologist.

Basic Science Conference: Monthly review of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology with a faculty member which addresses current basic science research.

Journal Club: Weekly review and discussion of journal articles from Archives of Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology with a faculty member.

Grand Rounds Diagnostic Conference: Weekly patient viewing to describe findings and discuss differential diagnoses with faculty members and community dermatologists.

American Academy of Dermatology Meeting: A 6-day national meeting held annually, to include 2nd and 3rd year residents, in which they are expected to present a paper at one of the sessions.

Guest Speaker Series: Invited experts in ancillary fields such as Psychiatry, Dermatology, Alternate Medicine in Dermatology, how to manage private practice, and pharmacy compounds.

New Mexico Dermatological Society Meeting: A 2-3 day local meeting held quarterly which includes guest speakers. Residents are required to attend and present at least one case at each meeting. For information on attending, please contact the Department of Dermatology
