Department of Dermatology

Dedication

The building was erected in 1972 "to last a century." The building was designed and planned by James J. Stagnone, M.D., his partners, and Joe Boehning, architect.  The building was designed to meet the rigid specifications of a dermatology practice.  In 1999, Dr. Stagnone decided to sell the facility and by working with the UNM real estate office and the Foundation Gift Acceptance Committee, Dr. Stagnone donated one-half of the building to the UNM School of Medicine.  His generous gift made it possible for the University to purchase the building.

On January 30, 2004, the University of New Mexico School of Medicine formally dedicated the building.  At the ceremony, the signage was unveiled to officially commemorate the naming of the James J. Stagnone Building.  Dr. Stagnone was honored at the ceremony and proudly accepted the honor.
