Mary began her EMS career in 1990, when the EMTs in Mountainair coerced her into leavingthe ranch long enough to take an EMT Basic class.

Mary has continued in EMS as a volunteer medic and firefighter for Mountainair for the past 16 years. Mary went through the EMSA’s Bachelor program and got her degree in EMS education in 2001. Mary began teaching for the Academy at state conferences and as adjunct faculty for UNM-Valencia in 2000 where she taught the Basic and Intermediate classes until December of 2002. In January of 2003 Mary came to work for the EMS Academy as the Outreach Education Coordinator. Today, Mary is the BLS/ILS Program Manager for the Academy.

Mary spends her time away from the Academy with her family; daughter Jennie and sonJoshua and her grandchildren, Jessica, Kylee and Colton
