Outcomes:


  • Establishment and training of core educational training team consisting of tribal health program representatives, university-based centers staff, and a national cancer agency regional representative.


  • Modification of Cancer 101 curriculum for New Mexico tribes.


  • Three Cancer 101 training/workshops delivered by team since initial core training (June 16-17, 2005, Albuquerque training; August 11, 2005, IHS Preventive Summit; October 24, 2005, Zuni Hospital; October 27, 2005, ACL Hospital; February 8-9, 2006, Albuquerque training)


  • Two community Cancer 101 trainings delivered by community-based team member (Summer 2005 and October 2005, Cochiti Pueblo).


Potential long-term outcomes for future evaluation include increasing continuing education for CHRs, culturally-relevant cancer modules for NM tribes, increased uptake of cancer screening, increased interest/referrals to clinical trials and improved survival rates for tribes.
