Department of Family and Community Medicine

Education Mission

Family and Community Medicine's Education Mission is to improve the health of the people and communities of New Mexico through the education of medical students, residents, physician assistants, public health students, community physicians, and faculty. The Department’s Vice Chair of Education is John Leggott, MD.

The Department emphasizes community-oriented, problem-based education in its service/learning sites both in the greater Albuquerque area as well as rural areas throughout New Mexico.

The Department of FCM also strongly supports students interested in a career in family medicine with the Family Medicine Interest Group.
