Department of Family and Community Medicine

About DFCM

The Department of Family and Community Medicine DFCM has been an independent department at the UNM School of Medicine since April 1, 1967. Under the leadership of Dr. Martha McGrew the Department is an enthusiastic and dynamic environment where faculty, staff, and students are engaged in academic scholarship, collaboration and providing effective healthcare and programs for rural and urban New Mexico. Our culturally diverse population is one of our strengths, with a spirit of equity, partnership and respect permeating our community, both internally and externally. Our curricula are designed to be innovative, practical and relevant to the community’s changing needs.

Our goal is to stretch the boundaries of educational innovation, provide exceptional patient care, and to increase relevant contributions to academic scholarship, leadership and the development of faculty, staff, students and patients.
