This clinical experience is designed to provide the medical student with opportunities for significant clinical service to patients, enabling the student to obtain a foundation of practical experience in a community setting. The opportunity to learn about the role and life of the practicing physician, organization, and economics of health care in a variety of settings is reinforced during this experience.
The minimum duration of the senior preceptorship is 4 weeks. The student is expected to be in he physician's office during working hours, to do morning and/or evening rounds and take call. The student is required to dedicate one half-day to a community service project.
