MPH Program History

As a result of a legislative appropriation and permission of the Council on Higher Education, the MPH Program was started in the Fall Semester of 1994 with an initial class of 12 students from various fields. A new class of 15-18 students is admitted each Fall Semester. The MPH Program is located within the Institute for Public Health, in the Department of Family & Community Medicine. The degree is offered through the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program, the unit in the School of Medicine that is authorized to grant masters and doctoral level degrees through its link to the University of New Mexico's Office of Graduate Studies (OGS).
