Degree Programs
The MPH Program, in collaboration with other UNM departments, presently
offers degrees in the following:
- Master of Public Health/Nursing (MPH/MSN)
- Master of Public Health/Doctor of Medicine (MPH/MD)
- Other individual dual degrees can be created by individual students.

Students in a doctoral program may pursue an MPH degree under the following conditions:
- Students must have written permission from their doctoral program to pursue the masters degree;
- Students must complete a Self-Managed Application and be formally admitted to the MPH Program;
- Students must adhere to the seven-year rule for completion of all requirements for the masters degree;
- Students must adhere to the five year rule for completion of the doctorate;
- If the time needed for completion of the masters degree will extend beyond the completion of the doctoral
degree, the student must have a Program of Studies for the masters degree approved by the Dean of Graduate
Studies before the doctoral degree is awarded.
