
Benefits - UNM Graduate Medical Education
- Salaries range from $35,261 - $44,076 depending on level of appointment. A schedule of salaries can be obtained from Graduate Medical Education Office.
- Health Insurance is provided to house staff, their families, and their domestic partners through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Mexico. Those who choose to use UNMH facilities do so at no out of pocket expense. Monthly premiums are $50 for individuals and $110 for family coverage. Dental Insurance is provided through Delta Dental to house staff and families including domestic partners. Monthly premiums are $11 for individual and $30 for family coverage.
- Vision Insurance is provided through Visions Service Plan to house staff and families including domestic partners. Monthly premiums are $3 for individual and $6 for family coverage.
- Disability Insurance is provided at no cost to the house staff. Life Insurance of $50,000 is provided at no cost to house staff.
- Professional Liability Insurance is provided through the State of New Mexico Tort Claims Act to those serving a residency.
- Vacation or Annual Leave is granted to all housestaff at twenty-one calendar days per contract year. Sick Leave is granted at fifteen days per contract year.
- Catastrophic Leave allows for sixty days of paid leave per contract year after use of sick and annual leave.
- Family Leave comprises available annual and sick leave with further leave of absence without pay for up to ninety days. Health insurance is paid by UNM during the period of approved leave.
- Educational Leave may be granted with advance departmental approval for the purpose of presenting papers, taking examinations, or attending educational seminars.
- Other benefits include meals on call, uniforms, call rooms, gymnasium facilities, and computer services.
