Cancer
New Mexico Tumor Registry (NMTR): The NMTR maintains a population-based registry for the entire state of New Mexico and the American Indian population of Arizona. Since 1969, the NMTR has been a major source of complete statewide cancer data for two of the nation's largest minority groups: Hispanics and American Indians. Cancer has been a reportable disease in NM since the 1920s (7 NMAC 4.3.1) and cancer information from the late 1960s has been included in the NMTR. In 1973, the NMTR was designated by state health department regulation as the official agent and repository for this data. The NMTR is one of seven original members of the SEER Program. NMTR is managed by a Division of UNM’s Cancer Research and Treatment Center (CRTC) and is located in the Cancer Research Facility at the University of New Mexico's (UNM) Health Sciences Center (HSC).
