Background & Expertise:  Deirdre Hill joined the Division in November 2004, and was recruited from NIH where she had been a senior research fellow in the Radiation Epidemiology Branch. She received her Ph.D. in epidemiology at the University of Washington, Seattle, and prior to that had earned an MPH at UCLA.

Research Interests & Activity:  Dr. Hill has focused on understanding the molecular and genetic basis of cancer precursors, as well as cancer etiology and survival, in the population-based setting of the New Mexico Tumor Registry. She is continuing to follow the New Mexico Mammography Project cohort to determine characteristics related to breast cancer development after benign biopsy, and is engaged in a study of genetic determinants of breast cancer survival, particularly with regards to the disparity in survival of NM Hispanic women. She is also involved in studies of inherited genetic variants and risk of lymphoma, including both NHL and childhood Hodgkin's disease.
