Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is an 8-week course, offered several times a year, designed to teach people how to recognize stress and reduce it by way of daily meditation and yoga. MBSR has been used by tens of thousands of people around the world for coping with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and other medical conditions. No experience is required, but this course requires a significant commitment of time and attention. All are welcome to participate, especially patients and staff of UNM/UH. You do not need a referral. Course instructors are Andrea Bliss MA PA-C and Brian M Shelley MD. They practice mindfulness, have been formally trained in teaching MBSR, and have led many MBSR classes at UNM.
