Affymetrix Whole Genome SNP Assays

The Affymetrix platform can measure up to 500,000 SNPs in the human and mouse genomes, allowing researchers to follow the segregation of specific chromosome regions in a number of individuals or to analyze genome instability or loss of heterozygosity (LOH).

The example below shows an Affymetrix genomic SNP analysis for tumor and normal DNA samples from a single patient.

The colored lines indicate regions of change between normal and tumor DNA - most likely due to LOH or genome instability.

This assay provides an ideal approach for the identification of tumor suppressor genes and other loci that change in tumor development or progression.
