TaqMan SNP Assays

The KUGR facility uses commercially-available (TaqMan) real-time PCR assays to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms in patient samples.

These assays are suitable for a few or a few hundred SNP measurements in hundreds of samples. Larger projects should consider the use of alternative methodologies, such as Targeted Genotyping Assays.

The TaqMan SNP assays are a proven and highly efficient means of measuring SNPs with a high success rate and high call rate, even using relatively poor-quality DNA, such as samples derived from paraffin-embedded samples.

For more information, contact the KUGR facility staff.
