It's great to be a New Mexican again! I was born and raised
in Santa Fe and left New Mexico at the end of high school. I
spent 7 years on the east coast in Pennsylvania and
Connecticut, one year in Argentina, and then medical school
in Chicago. As much as I loved my time away, I'm excited to
be back home for residency, and hopefully for good! My
husband, Brant, is also a native New Mexican and we enjoy
skiing, biking, backpacking with our dog, Gunther, and
spending time with friends. We are happy to be close to
family and will share family with anyone far from home! I am
especially taken by the New Mexican views and sunsets. This
residency program has been a perfect mix of great people,
top-notch education, and a diverse patient population. Feel
free to email me with any questions about life as a resident
in Albuquerque!

Originally from the west, my wife and I moved to Virginia for medical school. It was great being back east but we were excited to return to the laid-back atmosphere of the west, be closer to family, and hike/camp/ski in real mountains again. We ultimately decided on New Mexico because it was such a great fit for us. While interviewing, I was amazed that everyone was so nice and seemed genuinely happy. I was also impressed with the program, which provides excellent training (including experience that can't be beat in ultrasound and hands-on robotic surgery, as well as very interesting pathology due to UNM being the referral center for such a large geographic area) while still maintaining the laid-back, happy atmosphere of the southwest. Of course, residency is still hard and the hours are sometimes long, but at least I'm going through it with people I truly enjoy being around.
