Faculty Productivity
All faculty achieved relative value unit scores (a standard of defining clinical productivity)
that were at or above the national benchmark for university faculty.
Increasing Outpatient Visits
Compared with last year, the department’s number of ambulatory visits increased by 5% compared
with 2% of all other departments.
Expanding Obstetrics Service
Compared with last year, the obstetrics service increased in maternal transfers (7%) and admissions (5%).
Clinic Productivity
Our gynecology clinics were ranked among the most productive of the university clinics, while the
maternal-fetal medicine clinics had the highest productive ranking of all 23 specialty clinics.
Inpatient Maternity Source
The Obstetric-Newborn service represents 27% of all hospital discharges and the highest patient
turnover rate in the hospital.
Research Protocols
The number of active research proposals per faculty member, submitted to the School of Medicine’s
institutional review board was again greater than any other department within the school.
National Scientific Meetings
One or more abstracts were presented by the department’s faculty at sixteen national/international meetings.
Medical Student Research
Women’s health issues remain the focus of approximately 20% of the graduating students’ required research projects.
