Diabetes and pregnancy Program
Made available to facilitate access by pregnant diabetic patients to the
University of New Mexico diabetes in Pregnancy Program. The program is
committed to provide complete education in all aspects of diabetes in
pregnancy together with comprehensive diabetic and obstetric care.

Program Objectives
Our primary goal is to improve perinatal outcome in patients with overt and gestational Diabetes Mellitus. This objective is best accomplished by the use of a multidisciplinary team approach to provide care for pregnant women.
Our Team

Gestational Diabetes Class
- Instruction by an RN, CDE/RD, CDE
- Bilingual class (English/Spanish)
- Overview of Gestational Diabetes with video
- Complications associated with GDM
- Nutrition counseling and meal planning
- Use the care of the glucose meter
- Gestational Diabetes booklet
- Provision of supplies such as glucometer, lancets, strips if needed
