For over forty years, our physicians have served New Mexicans by caring for their bone and joint health. We specialize in diagnosing and treating disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, ligaments, muscles, joints, tendons, and nerves. Our orthopaedic physicians are experts in the care of patients of all ages who have conditions, such as broken bones, foot and ankle problems, spine injuries and deformities, joint replacement and reconstruction, and hand and shoulder problems.

In order to provide you with the most comprehensive care possible, we often work together with other faculty specialists in pediatrics, trauma, oncology, rehabilitation, and physical therapy. At the end of your visit, we will discuss findings and options for your treatment. We look forward to meeting you and giving you our best and most high-quality care. All appointments with orthopaedic physicians are scheduled by calling 505-272-2231.

Dr. Cheema Awarded Fulbright Scholarship
Tahseen Cheema, MD Professor UNM Department of Orthopaedics has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to start a post Residency Fellowship in Hand Surgery in Pakistan. Pakistan is a developing country of 170 million people. Medical facilities are variable and unevenly distributed and the majority of people do not have access to adequate health care. Hand injuries occur mostly with poor working class people and the number of these injuries has increased tremendously due to the introduction of machinery at the work place without any regard to safety and education of the workers. Along with the development of a post Residency Fellowship program Dr. Cheema's research efforts will be focused on the changing clinical picture of paralytic disorders in a developing country.
